'Just signed': Fabrizio Romano says 'world class' footballer has just become an Arsenal player

Arsenal haven’t been quick movers in this summer transfer window so far.

The Gunners have made just one senior signing this summer in the shape of Riccardo Calafiori.

However, Arsenal are about to make their second signing of the window.

Indeed, Mikel Merino is set to join Arsenal.

This deal has been in the pipeline for a little while now, but, as we all know, no deal is done until a contract is signed.

Luckily, it sounds as though we’re now at that stage.

Mikel Merino is an Arsenal player

According to Fabrizio Romano, Mikel Merino has now signed his Arsenal contract.

The Spaniard has put pen to paper on a four-year deal to join the Gunners.

An official announcement from Arsenal won’t be too far behind now.

Arsenal have been chasing the ‘world class’ midfielder for a long time, and now, they appear to have got their man.

Mikel Merino could play vs Brighton

Mikel Merino has just signed his Arsenal contract, and he could make his debut this weekend against Brighton.

The Spaniard has signed with plenty of time to spare before this weekend’s game, and he could make his first appearance for the Gunners against the Seagulls.

Of course, Merino is unlikely to start against Brighton. After all, he’ll only have a few days worth of training under their belt, but an appearance from the bench is definitely possible.

Mikel Merino could be an excellent signing for the Gunners, and there’s plenty of reason to be excited about this potential arrival.

Arsenal still have work to do in this transfer window. The Gunners still need a new attacking player to act as backup for Bukayo Saka, and there could still be further additions at the Emirates.

Merino and Calafiori as new arrivals makes for an exciting window for Arsenal, but a new attacker would be the icing on the cake.
