Keith Jackson believes James Tavernier and Cyriel Dessers may have hit out at Rangers boss Philippe Clement in their tie against Motherwell when the cameras panned towards them on the bench.
The Gers left Hampden Park on 3 November as 2-1 winners in the Scottish League Cup semi-final and are now set to face Celtic in the 15 December showpiece.
Speaking on the Daily Record’s Hotline Live (4 November), Jackson shared his thoughts on the conversation Dessers and Tavernier were having after being taken off.
“Tavernier looks shot by the way, his body language is all over the place,” Jackson said.
“During the second half, the bit where the cameras panned to the bench, it actually looked like Tavernier was sat next to Cyriel Dessers and look, we don’t know what the conversation was but it looked as if the two of them were almost looking at the manager saying ‘this guy doesn’t know what he’s doing’”.
Philippe Clement’s time as Rangers boss is slowly running out
Clement may have been kept in his role despite the losses to Celtic, Aberdeen and Lyon this season but it feels like, if the Gers drop any more points, it could spell the end of the Belgian’s tenure.
Fans and pundits alike have been hinting at the 50-year-old’s Ibrox exit for some time now and no matter what performance Rangers put in, the Belgian has managed to keep his job.
Even though John Gilligan may be happy with what he’s seeing at the moment, the fans expect and deserve a lot more from their team than what they’ve shown this season.
Tavernier is one of the main culprits within the Rangers squad who have had a poor season this term and his mistakes alone have likely cost the Gers a fair few points.
Things at Ibrox need to pick up and stay consistent otherwise Clement will be out of the role by the time Santa sets off on his travels on Christmas Eve.
In other Rangers news, Tam McManus has been left amazed by a claim that a Gers fan made about Cyriel Dessers.
