Newcastle United fans are excited about the prospect of Callum Wilson returning to action as he prepares to return to training.
According to Mail Online, Wilson and Alexander Isak are set to return to first-team training this week after their respective injuries.
Wilson hasn’t played for Newcastle since last season due to picking up a back injury during the summer in what has been an injury-plagued spell at St. James’ Park.
The 32-year-old missed 18 Premier League fixtures last season, with the Magpies struggling to keep the experienced striker fit for long periods.
Wilson is out of contract at Newcastle next summer should he not sign a new deal with the club beforehand.
Having both strikers return to fitness will be welcomed by the club, considering the Magpies are the joint seventh-lowest goalscorers with just eight goals from the opening seven fixtures.
Callum Wilson will bolster Newcastle United’s attack
Wilson’s return will be a welcomed boost to Eddie Howe’s attacking options with his goalscoring record at Newcastle being impressive.
Wilson has scored 47 goals in 69 Premier League appearances since he joined the club in 2020 from Bournemouth.
