Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has insisted Dan Friedkin will have “learned lessons he won’t repeat” during his time at Roma.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – claimed the US billionaire has restored stability in the Italian capital.
Friedkin, who is expected to take charge at Everton in the coming months after agreeing a takeover with Farhad Moshiri in September, has come under criticism in recent months at Roma.
The US ownership in the Italian capital have already overseen the sacking of two managers already in the 2024-25 campaign, including club legend Daniele De Rossi.
Claudio Ranieri has now been coaxed out of retirement to take over with Roma sitting 12th in the Serie A table and fans unhappy at the recent upheaval.
Football Insider revealed on Thursday (21 November) that Friedkin wants to move away from Sean Dyche’s style of football in the future.
Dyche is set to come under intense sack scrutiny over the festive period with a daunting run of fixtures on the slate.
Wyness ‘not too concerned’ about Friedkin blunders repeating at Everton
But Wyness told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “I’m not too concerned.
“The Everton situation will be handled by the lawyers at the moment.
“Friedkin and his son have obviously had their work cut out at Roma this season, but they’ve now got Ranieri in place.
“It’s been agreed that he will go upstairs to be a sporting director once a new manager is put in place, so there should be some stability at Roma now.
“They’re not in a great league position, but the fans are happy with Ranieri – he’s considered a Roma man. That means a lot for their traditions.
“The Friedkins will have learned a lot. I think they’ve learned lessons they won’t repeat once they get in at Everton.”
