Keith Wyness 'surprised' by Everton transfer news

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has been surprised the talk has been more about incomings rather than outgoings at Goodison Park lately.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – suggested director of football Kevin Thelwell and manager Sean Dyche will be discussing potential exits and signings behind the scenes on Merseyside.

There is expected to be interest around some of Everton’s stars this summer, with Jarrad Branthwaite and Amadou Onana likely to receive the majority of the attention.

Football Insider revealed last month the Merseyside giants will need to sell at least one of their “big” stars before they submit their accounts at the end of June to help balance the books.

Everton talks ongoing as exits on the cards at Goodison

Wyness is confident Goodison chiefs will be able to find the right balance for the squad and admitted next season is already starting to look “promising” after the struggles of the past few years.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “I do think there will be some movement.

“The speculation has really been around more incomings rather than outgoings, which is surprising.

“There have been some interesting names mentioned.

“I do think Kevin Thelwell and Sean Dyche are getting together.

“Next season is already starting to look quite promising.

“But we’ll see who the ones out the door are going to be and then we’ll have to see if the squad can remain balanced.

“I think they will manage to do a good job on that in the end.”
