King expects one of two senior Tottenham midfielders to be sold amid 'Special' transfer claim

Bryan King expects that either Yves Bissouma or Pape Matar Sarr would need to be sold by Tottenham to make room for Lens midfielder Andy Diouf.

The ex-Spurs scout thinks any midfielder the club sign now would need to be “special” considering the competition for places in Ange Postecoglou’s squad.

As reported by Give Me Sport (12 November), Spurs, West Ham and Crystal Palace are all interested in Diouf.

However, King – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes another midfielder would need to make way if Spurs were to sign the 21-year-old.

“They can’t bring anybody else in with the numbers they’ve already got,” King said.

“If they’re serious about bringing Diouf in, they need to shift at least one midfielder out. There is no guarantee that this player would feature regularly.

“There are international players at Tottenham who are sitting on the bench. Therefore, anybody who comes into the club would need to be very special.

“I think it would either be Bissouma or Sarr who would make way.”

Tottenham to sell Yves Bissouma or Pape Matar Sarr to sign Andy Diouf?

Spurs have plenty of options in midfield, with Postecoglou often rotating in that area.

However, for some reason, the club still seem keen to add more options in that area of the pitch.

As well as Diouf, Real Betis midfielder Johnny Cardoso could also join Spurs (via Estadio Deportivo, 30 October), with King previously speculating that either Bissouma or Sarr would need to be sold to make room for him.

Sarr is younger than Bissouma and has a higher ceiling, which means should it come down to it, Bissouma would likely be the player to leave Spurs, especially after his off-field issues this season.

However, the Mali international is also beginning to prove to Postecoglou that he has value in North London with some of his recent displays.

Therefore, both Sarr and Bissouma could yet prove that they should both remain at Tottenham.

In other Tottenham news, the club’s stance on James Maddison leaving in January has emerged.
