King predicts Everton to arrange Finch Farm friendly after injury news today

Bryan King expects Everton to arrange a friendly at Finch Farm to ease Jarrad Branthwaite back into action.

The ex-Goodison scout believes that would allow the Toffees to properly asses how fit the defender is as he makes his latest return from injury.

As reported by Sky Sports News’ James Savundra via X (16 October), Everton defensive duo Branthwaite and Vitaliy Mykolenko both took part in full training on Tuesday (15 October).

And King – speaking exclusively to Goodison News – has described this as a big boost for Sean Dyche and the club.

“I’d imagine Branthwaite will play in a friendly they’ve arranged at Finch Farm,” King said.

“That would be before Saturday, just to see whether the defender can cope for 60 minutes or 90 minutes. It is always a boost when your supposed top players are available.

“It is positive because he is a positive name for the supporters, club and manager. If he is available it is a big plus for Everton and Dyche.”

Jarrad Branthwaite to return for Everton v Ipswich Town?

Dyche’s side will travel to Portman Road to play Ipswich Town in the Premier League on Saturday (19 October). And whether or not Branthwaite travels with the team will have a big say on the result.

Branthwaite has played just once this season, featuring for Everton in their 2-1 win over Crystal Palace at Goodison Park (28 September).

That is the Toffees’ only Premier League win of the season so far. Therefore, it is clear how important Branthwaite is.

As a result, while supporters will be desperate for him to get back on the pitch, Dyche won’t want to rush him back into action and risk further injury.

The club already have enough injury issues, with another player at the club likely to miss out against Ipswich.

Therefore, organising a behind-closed-doors friendly to allow Branthwaite to ease himself back into action would be wise.
