Alan Myers has not heard of any new Everton injury issues with Idrissa Gana Gueye after international duty with Senegal.
After delivering a similar update on teammate Iliman Ndiaye, the Sky Sports journalist responded to a supporter via X on 15 October asking about the veteran central midfielder, saying there was no indication of a problem after the game against Malawi.
Gueye, 35, started the 1-0 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying win but was taken off during the second half.
However, Myers doesn’t believe that was due to an issue, writing in response to a question on whether the ex-PSG man was okay: “Haven’t heard anything different [to be honest]”.
Sean Dyche beset by Everton injuries this season
Everton have already battled through their fair share of injury issues during a rough start to the campaign, so any extra on international duty would be the last thing Sean Dyche needs.
The under-pressure Toffees boss has overcome four-straight losses to begin the season, and heavy speculation that he might lose his job, to take five points from the last nine heading into the break.
Jarrad Branthwaite’s absence for all but the one win so far, against Crystal Palace on 28 September, has arguably been the most damaging.
But Gueye missed the draw with Leicester the week before and has only come off the bench since, thanks to a personal issue, having started the opening four in the Premier League.
Full-back is where injury problems have been most acute, with captain Seamus Coleman featuring just once in the league so far and Nathan Patterson yet to feature this term.
Vitalii Mykolenko has missed two games as well, while James Garner hasn’t even been available to slot in at times either.
If Dyche can get everyone back after the break without any new problems he can look to build on a belated start and see of immediate threats to his job, at least until the Dan Friedkin takeover goes through.
In other Everton news, lucrative new contract negotiations are now in progress at Goodison Park.
