Bryan King believes Luka Vušković could struggle to nail down a starting role when he arrives at Tottenham.
The ex-Spurs scout feels there are already several “talented” players ahead of the Croatian in his position.
Tottenham signed Vušković from Hajduk Split for £12million, with the centre-back set to join the North London club in the summer of 2025 after he turns 18 (via Evening Standard, 25 September 2023).
He is currently playing his football on loan with Westerlo in Belgium. According to Fabrizio Romano via X (5 October), Spurs are “very happy” with the 17-year-old’s development.
However, King – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – struggles to see the youngster making a similar impact upon his arrival in England.
“At this moment in time there are two centre-backs in front of him,” King said.
“We’re talking about two very experienced centre-backs. Where and when is his chance going to come? He is playing in Belgium with a mid-table team. It is a good steppingstone, that has been proven in the past.
“However, it would take a lot for him to start at Tottenham because there are some very talented defenders already at the club.”
Luka Vušković to struggle at Tottenham?
Vušković is a talented player, there is no doubt about that. He has been receiving rave reviews after what he has been doing recently.
Therefore, Tottenham supporters will no doubt be desperate to catch a glimpse of this prospect in the flesh.
However, the Premier League is a completely different story, and Vušković might struggle to settle in as quickly as he has in Belgium.
With the likes of Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven already at the club, as well as some talented defenders also in Spurs’ youth ranks, Vušković might just have to be patient and bide his time.
However, if he can do that, and ultimately live up to the hype, he no doubt has the potential to become a star with Tottenham.
