King shares where DCL will likely be playing next season amid recent Everton-Newcastle talk

Bryan King believes Dominic Calvert-Lewin will remain with Everton next season.

The ex-Goodison scout claims the Toffees could look to sell some of their other big-name stars instead.

As reported by The Athletic (29 June), Yankuba Minteh was set to join Everton from Newcastle United, with Calvert-Lewin going the other way. However, those transfer talks would eventually collapse.

And King – speaking exclusively to Goodison News – believes this means Calvert-Lewin could remain with the Toffees next season.

“It seems as if a deal for Minteh was being set up with the view that he was going to replace Calvert-Lewin,” King said.

“Everton and Newcastle were obviously looking to do some sort of player-plus-cash deal.

“Those deals falling apart therefore suggest that Calvert-Lewin will likely remain with Everton next season, which would be a big boost for the club.

“As a result, Amadou Onana or Jarrad Branthwaite would need to be the big-money players sold.”

Will Dominic Calvert-Lewin remain with Everton after Newcastle United transfer collapse?

Everton cannot afford to lose Calvert-Lewin, Onana and Brantwahite.

Those three players, with Jordan Pickford behind them, are the spine of the Toffees. Therefore, if all three of them were to leave, the club would be left in a very difficult situation.

As a result, after this recent transfer collapse, it looks as if Calvert-Lewin could be set to stay put at Goodison Park.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin could remain with Everton next season.

If he is to remain with the club, they will want to tie him down to a new long-term deal as his current contract is set to expire next summer.

A lot of question marks remain over the 27-year-old’s future, and the club will therefore hope to have some clarity sooner rather than later.

In other Everton news, delight has emerged after contract terms were officially agreed at Goodison Park.
