Kieran Maguire shares 'Not good news' around Farhad Moshiri amid Everton takeover latest

Kieran Maguire has shared a piece of “not good news” regarding Farhad Moshiri’s stance on a potential Everton takeover at Goodison Park.

The Toffees’ current owner is once again looking for a buyer to sell the Blues to after 777 Partners’ proposed takeover collapsed after months of delays and financial issues at the company.

Although football finance expert Maguire insists it is positive that the Miami-based firm is now completely out of the picture, he is still concerned that Moshiri values his stake in the club too highly.

Speaking on The Price of Football (13 June, 6:55) he said: “I think the good news for Everton is 777 Partners are completely out of the discussions now.

“The continued not good news is that it is still Farhad Moshiri’s decision. He, from what I’ve seen, is still asking for a substantial of money and we’re talking tens of millions of pounds when I think there is a very good case for him saying I will sell all of my shares in Everton football club for a pound.

“I might perhaps caveat that and say I will share some of the financial success in the future because there is so much debt associated with the club that the shares by themselves are effectively worthless.

“But he seems to think differently, but he might make up with a nominal sum to make him feel as if he’s got something out of this.”

Will Farhad Moshiri sell Everton amid Goodison Park takeover speculation?

Most Everton supporters wouldn’t trust Moshiri to cross the road let alone pick the right buyer for their football club following the disaster that was 777 Partners’ deal, but ultimately, the decision lies with him once more.

With a number of parties riavlling one another to acquire the controlling stake on the blue half of Merseyside, the current Toffees boss must make sure that he picks the group most capable of guiding the Blues out of their current financial position.

Whether or not he will do that remains to be seen, but his track record certainly isn’t good. With the summer transfer window approaching, time is of the essence for the Blues so that they can get adding to their squad.

Taking too long to decide on a potential buyer is no good to anyone, including Moshiri so you would hope that he would come to a final and considered decision sooner rather than later.
