Rangers close in on another new transfer already after Kelly - Sky Sports

Hamza Igamane is “close” to completing his transfer to Rangers after the club announced the signing of Liam Kelly, according to Sky Sports.

It is reported that the Bears are already closing in on a deal for Igamane from AS Far Rabat in his home nation of Morocco.

Igamane has been linked with a switch for several weeks and has emerged as a key transfer target for Philippe Clement as the Belgian overhauls the existing squad.

Doubts had emerged over Igamane’s availability during pre-season due to his potential involvement in Morocco’s squad at the Olympics, but that hasn’t deterred the Gers from pursuing his signature [Daily Record, 17 June].

Clement’s squad rebuild throughout this transfer window is already in full flow at Ibrox, with Kelly their fifth new arrival of the summer so far.

Igamane following hot on the goalkeeper’s coat-tails would be the first out-and-out striker through the door, and that’s an area of the pitch expected to see plenty of movement in the coming weeks.

Cyriel Dessers’ future is under a cloud despite being the Gers’ top-scorer in his debut season with 22 goals, with several pundits expecting the club to add attacking reinforcements in place of the Nigerian.

While Igamane is not expected to act as a direct replacement for Dessers up front on a week-to-week basis, a developing transfer to PAOK could necessitate them pushing the boat out on another striker [Scottish Daily Mail, 26 June].

Lawrence Shankland and Tommy Conway have already been heavily linked, but whoever is anointed in the number nine role next season at Ibrox, expect Igamane to be chasing at their heels, ready to take his chance [Alan Hutton, 18 June].
