Ben Davies will complete an exit from Rangers imminently unless there are any “last minute disasters”, according to 4 Lads Had A Dream.
The Gers outlet reported via X on 23 August that the centre-back is set to depart amid hopes that he could be the first of many before the deadline.
Rangers Review’s Chris Jack reported via the outlet’s website the same evening that the former Liverpool centre-back “will” put pen to paper on a loan switch to Birmingham City.
Four Lads wrote: “Ben Davies chat is true & his exit should be finalised barring any last minute disasters.
“Not sure the details of the deal with any loan obligations to buy or otherwise, hopefully he is the first of a few exits this week which will open up potential incomings.”
Philippe Clement to offload Rangers defender to St. Andrew’s
Chris Davies has been pushing to get the Gers defender to League One as soon as possible after working with him at Liverpool [Daily Record, 23 August].
There may be a permanent option included in the deal, which will likely hinge on the English club making an immediate return to the Championship at the end of the season.
Should that all come together over the coming months it would surely be the best outcome all round with Davies not a preferred option for Philippe Clement.
The Englishman got a start in the opening day draw against Hearts but as so often looked shaky, and with Robin Propper signed to partner John Souttar when both are fit there doesn’t appear to be much scope for him to feature regularly.
After being signed under Giovanni van Bronckhorst and playing often under the Dutchman neither Michael Beale or Clement have felt the same.
An exit could have gone through last summer amid interest in Harry Souttar from Leicester [4th Official, 31 August], with Davies’ situation highlighting as well as anybody’s how constant managerial chance has hindered Rangers in recent years.
Clement will want to move as quickly as possible to get a new signing or two in to fill the gap once Davies’ deal is confirmed.
In other Rangers news, the Light Blues appear to be closing in on an experienced late signing as a “good sign” emerges in Glasgow.
