Leeds could land 'huge' transfer boost from Red Bull - expert

Leeds United part-owners Red Bull could be key to convincing the likes of Archie Gray to remain at Elland Road this summer.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, former England international Paul Robinson explained that the increased investment could convince star players including the 18-year-old to stay.

Leeds confirmed on 30 May that Red Bull has purchased a minority ownership stake in the club which will provide additional capital investment.

However, Robinson warned that ambitious players will be difficult to hold on to amid interest from clubs in the Premier League and across Europe.

Football Insider revealed on 6 June that Gray is a summer transfer target for Tottenham after an impressive breakthrough season in Daniel Farke’s side.

The likes of Crysenico Summerville and Wilfried Gnonto have also been hotly tipped to leave the club in the summer transfer window.

Sources told Football Insider previously that Summerville, Gnonto and Gray are unlikely to want to play in the Championship next season.

Robinson, meanwhile, believes Leeds will have a tough task convincing their star players to stay at Elland Road beyond this summer, but Red Bull could make the difference.

There are things Daniel Farke will want to do with his squad, players he’ll want to move out,” he told Football Insider.

Being realistic, you’re in the Championship, this is no surprise.

They’ll have a good idea of which players they were going to keep and who will leave if they’re in the Championship, so there’ll be no panic.

They understand what players they will have to lose. If Leeds don’t lose their star players, that would be huge.

The investment from Red Bull could be the key to keeping hold of some of these players.

But players will have ambition and it’s very difficult to keep a player who doesn’t want to be at the football club.

If the likes of Gray, Gnonto and Summerville decide they want to leave this summer, it’s going to be a hard sell to keep them at Leeds with Premier League clubs interested.

They’ve got an opportunity with the investment to keep these players.”

In other news, Newcastle have been told to accept a £10million offer for a key player.
