'Leeds could submit Daniel Svensson offer & fast-track him to first XI'

Leeds United are plotting an ambitious move for left-back Daniel Svensson in the January transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that left-back is an area that Daniel Farke “would like to strengthen.”

There are concerns at the club that Junior Firpo will not sign a new contract if the Yorkshire giants fail to gain promotion to the Premier League this season.

With Firpo’s deal expiring next summer, Leeds are now looking to find a potential long-term replacement and have identified Svensson as an option.

The 22-year-old has recently broken into the Sweden national side and is seen as a top young player who has a lot of potential within the game.

However, well-placed sources have told Football Insider that there will be “a lot of competition” for Svensson’s signature.

Leeds United want to secure Daniel Svensson as their next signing

The Nordsjaelland star could be a player that Leeds will have to with until summer to sign as his current club won’t want to weaken the team halfway through the campaign.

If Farke’s side are able to gain promotion to the Premier League then signing Svensson could become an easier prospect than doing it in January while they remain a Championship side.

Svensson could view a move to Ellan Road as an easier route to the Premier League in terms of guaranteed first-team football as opposed to just being in a squad.
