Leeds United have confirmed that Wilfried Gnonto has signed a new four-year contract, and fans are pleased about one particular aspect of the deal.
Fabrizio Romano revealed that there is no release clause expected in the contract, which makes his future more secure.
Any club wanting to sign the 20-year-old winger must negotiate directly with the West Yorkshire giants, putting the club in a stronger position.
Everton had been interested in signing Gnonto throughout the summer transfer wind, but the Championship club were able to keep hold of him.
The Italy international has played 76 times for the Championship side since he joined the club in 2022, scoring 14 goals and providing seven assists.
Gnonto is now under contract with Leeds until summer 2028 and has already opened his account for this season after scoring in the season’s opening game.
Leeds fans are pleased there is no release clause in his new deal
Gnonto extending his future at Elland Road is a positive step for the club in the eyes of the supporters, especially after Leeds lost several important attacking options this summer.
Georginio Rutter and Crysencio Summerville both departed the club, weakening the attacking options available to Daniel Farke.
Leeds fans are happy that Gnonto not only stayed this summer but has committed his long-term future to the club, which people believe is “great news.”
