Everton source shares update on Jose Mourinho talk at Goodison Park

Everton are not looking to hire Jose Mourinho as a potential Sean Dyche successor, Goodison News understands.

The former Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham boss had been linked with the Goodison Park hotseat [Graeme Bailey] due to his relationship with Dan Friedkin after the pair spent time together at AS Roma.

Dyche is facing an uncertain future at Goodison Park with The Friedkin Group reportedly eager to usher in a new era at the Blues with a new figurehead to lead the side [TBR Football].

Goodison News has learned the Toffees have not approached Mourinho or former boss David Moyes regarding a potential managerial change at the club.

A reunion at Goodison Park for Mourinho and Friedkin has been put to bed as quickly as the rumours surfaced.

Goodison News also understands Dyche has the full support of the Everton board as the Blues aim to navigate a difficult run of fixtures commencing after the international break after an appalling start to the 2024/25 Premier League season.

Dyche’s long-term future at the club will continue to be cast into doubt as long as his side linger around the relegation zone but the latest stance from the club confirms the boss will have time to turn things around on Merseyside.

Whether or not Friedkin plans to exact change at Everton upon the completion of his prospected takeover remains to be seen however, it is now clear that neither Mourinho nor Moyes will be considered should a managerial vacancy appear.
