'Unbelievable' - Everton ace Ashley Young shares 'Dream' admission amid LeBron James comparison

Everton defender Ashley Young revealed that playing with his son would be a “dream come true” before retiring.

His son, Tyler Young, recently won his first-team debut for Peterborough United, playing the final 30 minutes of a 2-0 win over Stevenage in the EFL Trophy on Tuesday 8 October.

Ashley, on the other hand, has over 700 senior appearances across spells with Watford, Aston Villa, Manchester United, Inter Milan and the Toffees, and is showing no signs of retiring just yet.

Speaking live via talkSPORT on Thursday (17 October, 9:35am), Young said: “I’m 39 now. Is there going to be a possibility (of playing with my son)?

“If there was a possibility, and I’m hoping there is, to play with him or alongside him would be unbelievable. To play alongside him would be a dream come true.

“You see LeBron [James] in basketball. I don’t think it’s been done since 1980, which is obviously a long time ago. He’s only just starting so you never know.”

Young being able to play football with his son as a professional would be hugely emotional for both involved, with the youngster just starting his career in the game.

The 39-year-old has had a long, illustrious career, and while the level of his performances has dropped at Goodison Park, nobody can fault his desire and energy despite his age.

Of course, he will have to wait a few years for his 18-year-old to develop, unless he drops down the football ladder, but it is certainly an attainable dream if he continues his career.

While he is ageing, Young has suffered few injuries in recent seasons and has the ambition to carry on his career for as long as humanly possible, though that news might be greeted with a mixed reaction at Goodison Park.

It is a lovely dream to have, especially given that it could actually happen at some point, and it would be a beautiful moment for the Young family if the dream were to become reality.
