Ibrox View: Rangers duo surely catch the eye of Clement at Lesser Hampden

Philippe Clement has slowly made progress at Rangers in recent weeks, and the Belgian will surely be delighted to have two more quality players at his disposal soon.

The Bears B team took on Celtic in the Glasgow Cup final on Tuesday [17 December] and came out eventual winners with a 3-2 win.

Paul Nsio and Cole McKinnon gave the young Gers the lead twice before Zak Lovelace, who has been involved in the first-team squad this season, came off the bench to score a late winner.

Oscar Cortes was one of the players on the pitch for the B team and impressed for the first 45 minutes before being substituted, with Rabbi Matondo also featuring.

The duo have been out with fitness issues, with neither featuring for the Bears since September, and they’ll be delighted to return with Clement watching on.

Patrick Stewart, the new CEO of Rangers, was also present at Lesser Hampden after starting his role at the Glaswegian outfit on 16 December.

Cortes and Matondo featured in Clement’s plans at the start of the season, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see them back in the fold in the coming weeks after impressing with the B team.

The duo must’ve surely caught the 50-year-old’s eye, and reinforcements up front in January might not be necessary for the Gers with the Colombian and Wales international returning.

Clement will be buzzing to welcome back reinforcements soon.
