Sir Alex Ferguson has bought a new property in Glasgow to be closer to Rangers ahead of leaving his role at Manchester United next year, according to Alan Nixon.
The journalist reported via The Sun on Sunday (10 November, page 57) that the legendary manager snapped up a posh flat in the west end to spend more time with his brother Martin and also be closer to his “other team” at Ibrox.
Martin is the associated director at Airdrie, while Sir Alex’s new property is just across River Clyde near Ibrox.

This comes after it emerged that Ferguson will leave his role at Manchester United as a global ambassador at the end of the season (BBC).
The Scot has been on the Red Devils’ payroll as an ambassador and club director since stepping down from his job as the team’s manager in 2013.
However, the club’s new owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has decided to remove him from his role after direct talks in an attempt to cut costs.
This has perhaps opened the door for Ferguson to move to Glasgow and be closer to his brother and Rangers.
The former Aberdeen boss has previously talked highly of the Gers and his admiration for the club, whom he represented during his playing career, is no secret.
It remains to be seen if this development will lead to Ferguson taking an advisory role at Ibrox. The Light Blues could certainly use some of his insight amid the club’s well-documented structural problems.
In other Rangers news, this Asian sensation has emerged as a transfer target for the Light Blues ahead of January.
