Lilywhite Rose demands more from Tottenham star amid recent transfer speculation

John Wenham has urged Tottenham defender Radu Drăgușin to improve amid recent transfer speculation.

The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose doesn’t think the Romanian is doing enough to start ahead of Cristian Romero or Micky van de Ven.

As reported by the Sunday Mirror (20 October, page 70), Napoli are one of several Italian sides interested in Drăgușin. However, the defender is not thought to be considering forcing a move away in January.

Drăgușin’s agent, Florian Manea, recently told Calcio Napoli 24 (22 October), “We’ll see later how many games he plays, and we’ll evaluate, at this moment it’s premature to think about a transfer.”

However, Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – thinks it is down to Drăgușin himself to force his way into the team and play more games.

“We knew that before we signed him,” Wenham said.

“This is just how his agent is. However, in fairness to Drăgușin, he hasn’t said anything, it is always his agent talking.

“Drăgușin just gets on with things. He did okay when he started against AZ Alkmaar. However, he isn’t doing enough at the moment to push Romero or van de Ven out of the team.

“As much as his agent wants to talk, Drăgușin has to be doing more than Romero or van de Ven, which at the moment he isn’t. Therefore, that’s where we are with that, and there isn’t much more to say.”

Drăgușin hasn’t exactly shone with the chances he has been given this season, with Wenham previously blasting a “stupid” mistake made by the centre-back.

Therefore, for his agent to suggest they will be evaluating Drăgușin’s future based on how many games he plays is pretty ridiculous, with ex-Spurs scout Bryan King furious with the comments.

It is almost an indirect way of Manea telling Ange Postecoglou that he will look for a transfer for his client unless he is handed more game time.

However, the Spurs boss must shut out this noise.

If Drăgușin wants to play more regularly in North London then he must prove he is worthy of those minutes.
