John Wenham was disappointed not to see Will Lankshear feature at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the 1-0 UEFA Europa League win against AZ Alkmaar on Thursday (24 October).

The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose is hopeful to see the striker play more minutes in the competition over the coming weeks.

Mikey Moore started and made a huge impression in North London.

However, Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – wanted to see fellow Spurs youngster Lankshear handed some minutes too.

“The only disappointment for me was that Lankshear didn’t get on the pitch,” Wenham said.

“Having started in the previous Europa League match I was expecting him to start all of our league games in the competition.

“However, I suppose Richarlison was coming back from injury and needed the game time. Hopefully, Lankshear can get some more minutes in the coming games in the competition.”

Wenham had previously called for Lankshear and Moore to start all of Spurs’ remaining Europa League league games.

Therefore, while he got his wish with Moore, Lankshear didn’t even feature off the bench, let alone start.

Understandably, Richarlison needed some minutes after returning from injury, and the Brazillian did score the matchwinner. However, Postecoglou must be careful not to black Lankshear’s development, especially after Richarlison’s return.

As a result, next time Spurs feature in Europe, the Australian should perhaps consider at least introducing the 19-year-old off the bench.

In other Tottenham news, Timo Werner could leave the club in January after a transfer update from Germany.
