Lilywhite Rose expects Tottenham senior player to exit as potential replacement named for 2025

John Wenham expects Tottenham to sign a brand-new goalkeeper to compete with Guglielmo Vicario.

The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose doesn’t think any of the club’s current options are suitable to act as a backup option for Vicario next season.

As reported by TBR Football (19 November), Tottenham, Manchester United and Chelsea have all been keeping an eye on Lille’s highly-rated goalkeeper Chevalier.

And Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – thinks the Frenchman could be signed, if the opportunity presents itself.

“I think Tottenham need a new goalkeeper to be an understudy for Vicario,” Wenham said.

“I’m not sure either Josh Keeley or Luca Gunter are quite ready to become the club’s number two. Therefore, there is space for someone to be signed there.

“Forster will likely be moving on in the summer, as well as Alfie Whiteman. As a result, if an opportunity presented itself, I’d expect Tottenham to sign a goalkeeper to challenge Vicario.”

Chevalier has already played 98 times for Lille, even though he is still just 23 years old. Therefore, it is clear to see just how talented the young keeper is.

In addition to his vast experience for Lille, the young shot-stopper has also already received his first senior France call-up, although he has yet to play for Les Bleus.

With previous calls for Forster to be moved on as early as January, it is clear that Spurs need a new number two.

As a result, signing a highly-rated, young goalkeeper with plenty of experience, including in the UEFA Champions League, and time ahead of him, might not be such a bad idea.
