Lilywhite Rose: Levy could accept multi-million loss on 'Big Money' Tottenham player

Daniel Levy could be prepared to accept a loss on Tottenham midfielder Yves Bissouma, according to John Wenham.

Ange Postecoglou’s side have been linked with several midfielders in recent months, which has sparked suggestions that either Bissouma or Pape Matar Sarr could be sold to make room.

As reported by Alasdair Gold via Football London [9 December], Spurs could be open to allowing Bissouma to leave the club next summer.

Therefore, it appears as though the Mali international, who was signed by Spurs for £25million plus add-ons [via BBC Sport, 17 June 2022], is the more likely player to make way.

And according to Lilywhite Rose owner Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – Levy could be prepared to take a £9million hit to sanction the 28-year-old’s exit.

“To move Bissouma on there would need to be a club that genuinely wants to sign him,” Wenham said.

“This is a player on big money. Therefore, it would be quite hard to move him out the door.”

“Spurs would still expect any interested parties to pay a decent fee for him. However, the club paid £25m, and I think at this point they would be prepared to accept around £16million.”

Bissouma will have just one year left on his deal in North London at the end of the season. Therefore, Spurs will need to make a decision on the ex-Brighton player.

If they plan to keep him around, they will need to offer him a new contract. However, if they want to move him on, which appears to be the more likely scenario, they will need to find a buyer next summer.

Otherwise, they risk losing a player who cost £25million for free.

Therefore, it looks as though Levy will have no choice but to accept a cut-price deal and stomach the loss.
