John Wenham expects Tottenham supporters will be frustrated with the club after their latest partnership announcement.
The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose has joked that the North London side have announced more partnerships than they have won matches this season.
As per Lilywhite Rose via X (13 November), Tottenham “are delighted to announce a two-year partnership with Dashing, Malaysia’s leading male perfume and deodorant brand for over 25 years.” This is the latest in a series of partnership announcements this season.
And Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – has speculated why the club might have avoided making this announcement on their own X platform.
“Spurs seem to have partnerships for all sorts of bizarre things now,” Wenham said.
“They couldn’t even bring themselves to announce one of them on X because they knew the backlash they would receive from fans.
“I deliberately announced it on their behalf, wording it the way they did on the club website, which was that they were delighted to partner with this Malaysian perfume and deodorant company.
“We have more partnerships than wins so far this season.”
Tottenham continue to announce partnership deals in North London
If Spurs were winning and flying high in the Premier League, supporters likely wouldn’t bat an eyelid at these announcements.
However, their form hasn’t been great this season, and since a shocking 2-1 Premier League defeat to Ipswich Town at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday 10 November, which has put Ange Postecoglou’s long-term future in doubt, the club have announced multiple new partnership deals.
Therefore, it is understandable why fans might be frustrated. After such a devastating loss, the last thing they want to read about is new partnership deals.
Daniel Levy isn’t the most popular man at the best of times in North London as it is. However, these recent events will only further fuel speculation among fans that the Spurs chairman has no interest in the club’s on-field success, but rather just an interest in generating large revenues.
In other Tottenham news, the club’s stance on a James Maddison transfer exit in January has emerged.
