Lilywhite Rose moots Man Utd stance as Tottenham urged to sign 'Big Money' star

Tottenham have been urged to sign wantaway Manchester United star Marcus Rashford.

Supporters of the North London club have urged Daniel Levy to sign Rashford after the forward admitted to Henry Winter on Tuesday [17 December] that he is ready to quit Manchester United in search of a new challenge

However, Ange Postecoglou doesn’t seem as keen for the 27-year-old to make the move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium [via The Mirror, 18 December], which potentially stops that deal in its tracks.

And Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – has suggested United wouldn’t make a deal easy in any case.

“I think the wages make a deal for Rashford impossible,” Wenham said.

“In addition, I don’t see Manchester United subsidising his wages to allow him to join Tottenham on loan as we’re fighting for very similar things to them this season. Therefore, I think that is a non-starter.

“I’m not quite sure where he is going to go because the big money he is on leaves him with very limited options. Man United might subsidise his wages so that he can leave England on a loan deal. However, he still has a few years left on his contract, which makes things really difficult.”

Tottenham to avoid signing Manchester United star Marcus Rashford?

Rashford would no doubt improve the options available to Postecoglou. However, whether or not he would be worth the big wages is a different story entirely.

Spurs could likely afford a deal, with Levy continuing to line up the big paydays in North London, although it would take the chairman changing one policy at the club to allow the transfer to go ahead.

Therefore, with that in mind, and Postecoglou’s seeming lack of interest in Rashford, it appears as though this is nothing more than a pipedream for those fans calling for the move.
