Lilywhite Rose speculates Brentford could offer Tottenham outcast £9m+ contract

John Wenham has speculated that Brentford could offer Sergio Reguilón a contract worth £9million-plus once the left-back’s deal with Tottenham expires.

The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose expects the 27-year-old to remain in North London until his contract expires on 30 June 2025.

This is despite CaughtOffside reporting (9 November) that Reguilón is keen to terminate his deal with Tottenham in January in search of regular first-team football elsewhere.

However, despite Spurs being urged to work on a January exit, Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – doesn’t think this would be a good idea for the player.

“There is so little time left on his deal, it is probably better for him to wait it out,” Wenham said.

“Then, he can see what contracts are available to him with other clubs. Perhaps Brentford might offer him a three-year deal worth £60,000 per week at the end of the season.

“Therefore, I’d expect him to just stick it out for the season.”

Brentford to offer Sergio Reguilón a three-year contract once he leaves Tottenham?

Reguilón has spent time on loan with Brentford previously. As a result, that pre-existing relationship could see the Bees look to bring the defender back to the club.

This could be an especially tempting option if Reguilón is a free agent next summer.

While he hasn’t played much football in recent years, Reguilón is still an experienced player with plenty of years ahead of him.

Therefore, should he sit out the final few months of his Tottenham deal, he will likely have plenty of tempting offers on the table next summer.
