Liverpool could earn millions more from £10m sale as two transfer clauses included

Liverpool appear to be holding a clear out with Bobby Clark just one of several young stars that were put up for sale this summer.

The Reds remain the only Premier League club yet to complete a signing this summer, but that hasn’t stopped them from trimming Arne Slot’s squad.

Their first sale of the summer came when Fabio Carvalho completed a move to Brentford for £27.5million, but Bobby Clark has now followed him out the door.

Liverpool confirmed on Thursday morning that Clark has joined Red Bull Salzburg where he will re-unite with Jurgen Klopp’s former assistant Pep Ljinders.

The Merseyside club have also agreed to sell Sepp van den Berg to Brentford in a deal which could rise to £30million.

Liverpool are now looking at a profit of over £70million for the three stars, but clauses attached to Clark’s exit means they could still earn millions more in future windows.

Liverpool include sell-on clause for Bobby Clark

It seems a bizarre decision for Liverpool to suddenly cash in on some of their most exciting young talents, but no one can argue with the money they are raising as a result.

As reported by BBC Sport, RB Salzburg paid £10million to sign Clark despite the 19-year-old only making 14 first-team appearances during his time at Liverpool.

The report adds that Liverpool have included a sell-on clause in the deal which banks the club 17.5 percent of his next transfer fee.

If Clark lives up to his lofty potential, the clause could earn Liverpool millions more from their academy product in years to come.

The report also adds that Liverpool have secured a matching rights agreement.

The clause, often referred to as a ‘first refusal clause’, gives Liverpool the priority to match any future bids for Clark if they intend to bring him back to Anfield in the future.

The 19-year-old now has the chance to impress and play regular first-team football in Germany under a familiar coach.
