Liverpool fans wowed by Ryan Gravenberch transformation after 'amazing' image

Liverpool fans have been left stunned by the transformation of Ryan Gravenberch since Arne Slot took over from Jurgen Klopp at the start of the season.

The midfielder starred as Slot’s side dispatched Milan 3-1 in their first Champions League clash of the season thanks to goals from Ibrahima Konate, Virgil van Dijk and Dominik Szoboszlai.

It was Gravenberch who stood out most to fans, earning himself the Player of the Match award thanks to his dominant midfield display.

In a new role to the one he had occupied last season, the 22-year-old showed his strength by breaking up play and dictating the possession for his side, playing a crucial part in an impressive victory.

During the international break, fans were stunned by Gravenberch’s performances for the Netherlands, and he has carried that form over on his return to Liverpool.

He has been a regular in Slot’s starting XI since the beginning of the season and has quickly become an integral part of their new-look style of play.

This is despite becoming a bit-part under Klopp as the legendary boss struggled to find a regular place for him in his all-action midfield.

Liverpool had been searching for a new number six to sit at the base of their midfield during the summer transfer window, but were snubbed by top target Martin Zubimendi.

In pre-season, it became clear that Slot wanted to test Gravenberch in a new position to make up for their lack of a natural deep-lying option.

After missing out on Zubimendi, the Dutchman has become the first-choice in that position, and his performance against Milan showed fans he can thrive there.

He is now receiving high praise for his displays, with some going as far as to label him “one of the best in the world” alongside comparisons to former Milan and Netherlands star Ruud Gullit.
