Liverpool Sources: Big Trent update tonight

Trent Alexander-Arnold will only sign a new Liverpool deal if he feels the club have matched his ambition, sources have told Football Insider.

Sources say the right-back, 25, has “put the ball in Liverpool’s court” in a new twist in his contract situation – with his current deal up at the end of this season.

Asked about his future, he said: “I want to be a Liverpool player this season [as a minimum] is what I will say.”

“The most important thing is trophies if I’m honest,” Alexander-Arnold continued. “I want to win trophies, I am a player who is highly motivated by winning things and being elite.”

It is believed the England international wants the Reds to gear up their expectations and wants them to match his ambitions – particularly in the transfer market.

Alexander-Arnold demands Liverpool ‘match his ambition’

Real Madrid have been widely linked with Alexander-Arnold, who could negotiate a pre-contract agreement in the January window.

He has spoken out about his desire to win trophies after a positive start for Liverpool in the Premier League.

The Reds have picked up 12 points from a possible 15 this term under new boss Slot.

Alexander-Arnold has won the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup with Liverpool.

He has made 316 appearances for the Merseysiders and signed his last contract extension in 2021.
