West Ham United are discussing a move to sign Dominic Calvert-Lewin from Everton, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper reported on 16 July that the Hammers are interested in a deal for the Toffees forward amid exit rumours.

The 27-year-old has entered the final year of his contract at Goodison Park meaning a cheaper deal could now be struck.

Everton could lose Dominic Calvert-Lewin to West Ham

It is no secret that the Englishman is out of contract at the end of the upcoming campaign which could make things difficult for the Toffees.

The financial situation at Goodison Park appears to have eased since Dan Friedkin came into the ownership mix.

With that being said, selling Calvert-Lewin may make the most sense if he doesn’t want to sign a new contract this summer.

Losing him on a free transfer would be a mistake from the Toffees’ point of view, especially given they could command a positive fee in the current market.

There has been interest from the likes of Newcastle United who could tempt the Englishman away.

West Ham would certainly be able to offer regular first-team football next season under their new manager, Julen Lopetegui.

It appears that Calvert-Lewin wants a fresh start away from Everton and a clean break with a fee involved could suit all parties this summer.

In other Everton news, a “due diligence issue” caused by chaos at 777 Partners could prove to be a problem for Dan Friedkin.
