Rangers and Blackburn have agreed on a low transfer fee for Todd Cantwell ahead of the 30 August deadline, according to Alan Nixon.
The reliable Sun journalist reported on 28 August that the two sides have reached an agreement.
This comes after the two sides were scheduled to meet on Wednesday to iron out the final details of the deal. [Alan Nixon]
Nixon wrote on X: “Fee agreed quite low.”
Rangers negotiate the Todd Cantwell transfer pretty poorly
Cantwell has struggled at Ibrox and it made sense for the club to cash in before the transfer window shut.
Gers have certainly not negotiated this one properly as they could’ve leveraged his previous good performances in the Championship for a high transfer fee.
The exact amount is unclear but whatever it is, it needs to be reinvested into the first-team squad.
His exit and Scott Wright’s too followed by Ianis Hagi, leaves a significant void in attack for the Ibrox outfit.
It’s expected to be a busy few days in and around Ibrox amid the scrabbling for last-gasp transfers ahead of the deadline.
Cantwell finally gets the move he’s desired after handing in two transfer requests and Philippe Clement leaving him out of the team.
In other Rangers news, an Ibrox target has handed in a transfer request just days before the deadline as Gers are keen on a last-gasp swoop.
