Ange Postecoglou should consider handing Tyrese Hall his first-team debut at Tottenham.
It has been a mixed season for Spurs’ Under-21s.
After dominating for much of the 2023/24 campaign, the Under-21s side was picked apart with players leaving the club on loan, or being sold permanently.
Meanwhile, Will Lankshear, the Under-21s’ top scorer last year, has spent much more time with the first team. Therefore, it has been something of a transitional year for Wayne Burnett’s side.
However, they produced arguably their most memorable result of the season thus far on Saturday (5 October), beating North London rivals Arsenal Under-21s 5-2 at Meadow Park.
And midfielder Hall was influential in proceedings on the day, sending a clear message to Postecoglou.
Tyrese Hall ready for first-team debut at Tottenham
John Wenham recently suggested that Hall could soon make his full debut for Spurs, and based on his display against the Gunners, he is more than ready.
Arsenal went into the break 2-0 up against Tottenham, before two goals in as many minutes from Hall himself and Max Robson levelled the game shortly after the restart.
Callum Olusesi, Jaden Williams and Max McKnight all then got on the scoresheet to complete a “stunning” comeback win over Arsenal (via Tottenham Hotspur Official Website, 5 October).
With Spurs boasting a 100 per cent record in the UEFA Europa League this season, they look pretty comfortable in that competition. Therefore, Postecoglou might have a chance to experiment.
If he does, Hall should be near the top of his list of players to include. Hall proved earlier this season that he is a man for big games, and after getting some minutes under his belt for Spurs during pre-season, he could son have an opportunity to show what he can do for the first team.
In other Tottenham news, one player has been blasted after he was involved in a “ridiculous situation” during the 3-2 defeat to Brighton at the Amex Stadium on Sunday (6 October).
