'Madness & Negligent' - The Esk slams Moshiri and Everton after new 777 legal update

The Esk has torn into Everton and Farhad Moshiri for their due diligence around 777 Partners, labelling it “madness and negligent” after new developments.

The Miami-based investment firm, who had previously agreed a deal with Moshiri to buy his controlling stake in the Toffees, remains in court after Leadenhall accused them of running a fraudulent scheme [Bloomberg, 4 May].

While 777 Partners’ deal to purchase the Blues has long since collapsed, Everton financial expert The Esk has slammed Moshiri and the Toffees after Leadenhall updated and amended their complaint against the company.

Writing on X on Saturday (31 August) he said: “Some quite incredible revelations and accusations in an updated, amended complaint by Leadenhall in their ongoing case versus 777 Partners, A-Cap and others.

Again, and I labour the point, just how poor Moshiri and Everton’s due diligence was and how despite even being able to make minimal repayments to Leadenhall (even 15m USD), 777/A-Cap were still funding Everton and claiming the deal would be completed – madness and negligent.”

Are Everton close to a takeover at Goodison Park this summer?

From the outside looking in last season, it seemed clear that 777 Partners were never in a position to take over the Toffees, but for whatever reason Moshiri stood by the American investment firm anyway.

That could come back to cost the Blues in more ways than one and ultimately the blame lies entirely at the door of the decision makers at Goodison Park for their negligent and mad decisions over the last couple of years.

Hopefully, a solution can be found sooner rather than later in the blue half of Merseyside so that time can finally be called on Moshiri’s time in charge before he makes any more major mistakes that could come back to bite Sean Dyche’s side.

John Textor has reportedly entered a period of exclusivity to acquire the controlling stake and while no deal is thought to be close, his interest can at least act as a light at the end of the tunnel for fans after years of chaos [David Ornstein, 15 August].

In other Everton news, the Toffees were prepared to hand Scott McTominay a pay rise in a last-minute Manchester United swap deal
