'Madness' - Pundit tears into 'Crazy' Rangers man over what he said after loss v Celtic

Rangers manager Philippe Clement has been slammed by Andy Halliday for what he said after the Gers defeat to Celtic at Parkhead.

The Light Blues tasted defeat in the first Old Firm derby of the season on Sunday (1 September) as Brendan Rodgers’ Hoops ran out 3-0 winners to leave the Gers adrift in the Premiership title race.

Although Open Goal pundit Halliday did feel the players let their manager down on the pitch, he believes the Belgian’s decision to bring up the previous win over Ross County after the game was “crazy”.

Speaking on the Open Goal YouTube channel (3 September, 28:43) he said: “What I do think is madness is that he’s brought up the Ross County result after the game.

“Let’s not forget we had our best result in four years last week against Ross County. For me, that’s crazy bringing that up.”

While big wins over Ross County may get fans out of their seats on the day, those are not the displays that you are judged on as a Rangers manager. Supporters expect you to win those games and conformably.

Where you make your money and earn praise are the clashes with Celtic and European matches and so far, Clement has failed to deliver in either of those fixtures barring a couple of good Europa League results at the start of his tenure.

For the Gers manager to bring up the thrashing of County after that poor performance against their Glasgow rivals is not only bizarre but incredibly naive as he should’ve known that wouldn’t go down well with fans.

Comments like that are only going to increase the pressure on the Belgian from both supporters and pundits in the coming weeks. Something has to change quickly for him to get the fans onside and show that he is the man to bring a title back to Ibrox.
