Man City's Jack Grealish sends five-word message to John McGinn

Man City star Jack Grealish has taken to social media to send former Aston Villa teammate John McGinn a happy birthday.

Grealish, 29, and McGinn, 30, spent three years together at Villa Park before the England international left his boyhood club for Pep Guardiola’s side back in 2021.

McGinn was named Villa captain by Steven Gerrard following Grealish’s departure and has retained the position under Unai Emery.

With six goals and four assists in 35 Premier League appearances, the Scotland international was a driving force behind Villa’s remarkable 2023-24 campaign that saw them qualify for the Champions League for the first time since 1982-83.

Both Man City and Aston Villa have begun this season as they finished the last, with the current champions sitting in second place, just one point behind league leaders Liverpool, while Emery’s side occupy fifth with 14 points.

Grealish took to Instagram to wish his former teammate and friend many happy returns after turning 30 years old on October, 18th.

With the season’s second international break over, Man City will travel to bottom-placed Wolves on Sunday (October 20) in what should be a routine win for the champions.

Villa will travel to West London to face an in-form Fulham on Saturday (October 19) side who were impressive against Pep Guardiola’s side last time out, despite their 3-2 defeat.
