Getafe are reportedly lining up a move for Nigerian international striker Umar Sadiq in the January transfer window, Soccernet.ng reports.
According to Fichajes, Getafe manager José Bordalás is keen on adding the Real Sociedad forward to his squad as the Madrid-based club looks to bolster their attacking options.
Sadiq, 27, has been with Real Sociedad since the summer of 2022, joining from Almeria.
However, his time at the club has been marred by injuries, which have limited his game time.
This season, the Super Eagles striker has made two starts and three substitute appearances in La Liga, while also featuring in the Copa del Rey and UEFA Europa League, providing one assist.
Last season, Sadiq managed two goals and one assist in 12 starts and 14 substitute appearances in La Liga. In two years at Real Sociedad, Sadiq has only managed four goals for the Spanish side.
Despite showing flashes of his talent, physical issues have hampered Sadiq’s ability to consistently perform at his best.
This has sparked interest from Getafe, who view the Nigerian as a potential solution to their attacking woes.
Bordalás is eager to incorporate Sadiq into his side, believing the striker’s physicality and pace would suit Getafe’s high-pressure playing style.
Currently sitting 16th in the La Liga table with just eight points from nine matches, Getafe are in need of reinforcements to lift them away from the relegation zone.
Although Real Sociedad will not easily part with Sadiq, Getafe remain hopeful they can negotiate a deal in the upcoming transfer window.
A move to Getafe could provide Sadiq with a fresh start and a chance to rediscover his goal-scoring form.
