TBR Football can reveal that Manchester United are trying to get a deal done ahead of a number of Premier League sides for Norwegian midfielder Sverre Nypan.
United have been confident in signing Nypan for some time now and with January just around the corner, clubs are now starting to get into gear ready to strike.
Man City also like Nypan, who is very much a star in the making and has already impressed at Rosenborg, making north of 50 appearances despite being just 18.
And now, it looks like a move to England or beyond could be on the cards.
Manchester United trying to sign Sverre Nypan as Barcelona make presence known
TBR Football’s chief correspondent Graeme Bailey has been told that Manchester United are pushing ahead with talks over teen starlet Nypan as they look to persuade the Norwegian to join them in January.
TBR Football has previously revealed United’s confidence in landing Nypan, who turned 18 earlier this week.
United have been chasing Nypan for years having first spotted him aged 14, but now they have made their move.
We are told by sources that Rosenberg will look to pocket at least £10million from a deal, but they are leaving the decision over which club to Nypan himself.
United are seen as front-runners for the deal, but we can confirm that Nypan and his representatives are fielding, and listening, to other options.
Strong interest from Bayern Munich, RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund has emerged, whilst Barcelona have also had contact in recent weeks.
Premier League wise Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Man City, Newcastle and Aston Villa are all admirers of Nypan but it is believed that United have long been his preference.
United have already secured a deal for Paraguayan defender Diego Leon this month, and he will join in the summer when he turns 18.
Sverre Nypan praised for showing mental resilience
As a young player with the world at his feet and plenty of interest in him, it would be easy for Sverre Nypan to get carried away.
However, that’s not the case, and his current manager, Alfred Johansson, has praised his attitude.
“He focuses on enjoying playing football every day”, Johansson told Norwegian broadcaster TV 2.
“It is very impressive, and that is how it should be, but not everyone could have done it. It is strong of Sverre.”
United, then, could be landing themselves a star of the future if they can get a deal over the line.
