Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United were involved in a Carabao Cup clash for the ages as Ange Postecoglou’s side secured a 4-3 win at home.
Despite holding a 3-0 lead in the second half, Spurs made a couple of defensive errors to allow the Red Devils to come back into the game, although they somehow held on to set up a semifinal clash against Liverpool.
Heung-min Son played the full ninety minutes for Tottenham and scored what turned out to be the winning goal directly from a corner.
And the South Korean was spotted having a heated conversation with one of his teammates after the full-time whistle.
Heung-min Son spotted talking to Tottenham teammate Archie Gray
Spurs have a bit of a crisis at centre-back as both Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven are currently injured.
Archie Gray spoke about his willingness to play in different positions for Tottenham and was asked to do just that against Manchester United as he was stationed as a centre-back alongside Radu Dragusin.
The youngster enjoyed a fantastic game and was one of the best players on the pitch, but he had a small part to play in two goals Tottenham conceded on the night.
Although Joshua Zirkzee’s opener and Amad Diallo’s strike were both individual errors from Fraser Forster, Gray was involved in the passage of play leading to the goals.
For the first goal, in particular, he played a slightly dangerous back pass to the goalkeeper, which Foster then mis-controlled to give Zirkzee a tap-in from close range.
It’s unclear what they were chatting about, but Son and Gray were involved in a heated debate at the full-time whistle, after which the Tottenham captain gave the youngster a warm hug and a pat on the head for his outstanding display.
Gray’s stats vs Manchester United
Gray has been hailed as a phenomenal player by Jermaine Beckford and showed his class against a strong Manchester United side.
His underlying numbers from the game show that he’s more than capable of playing as a centre-back, while he has shown in his young career so far that he can also play in midfield and right-back.
Manchester United fans were also full of praise for Gray after his latest display as the Englishman capped off one of his best displays for a new club in an unfamiliar role.
