Man United ace Lisandro Martinez sends four-word message to Cristian Romero

Man United defender Lisandro Martinez has taken to social media to congratulate Argentina teammate Cristian Romero on the birth of his daughter.

Martinez, 26, had been called up for international duty alongside Romero, 26, but was forced to withdraw after the injury he sustained in Man United’s 3-0 Premier League win over Leicester was worse than expected.

The Tottenham center-back also withdrew from the Argentina national team but for a happier reason—to be by his wife Karen Cavallar’s side as she gave birth to their second child, a daughter named Lucy.

Romero has played almost every Premier League minute for Ange Postecoglu’s side so far this season with his only reprieve coming in their 4-1 win over Aston Villa after he was substituted in the 61st minute.

Martínez and Romero have established themselves as one of the top defensive partnerships in international football, following the Man United star’s omission from the starting XI in the 2022 World Cup final.

Argentina have conceded just seven goals in 12 games as they sit at the top if South America’s World Cup qualification table.

Their bond clearly goes beyond the pitch, with Martinez taking to Instagram to congratulate his defensive partner.

Both Spurs and Man United have endured underwhelming starts to the season, currently sitting 10th and 13th in the table after 11 games.

With Martinez injured and Romero having just had a child, it’s unlikely either will feature in their upcoming Premier League games against Man City and Ipswich Town.
