Chelsea supporters believe Moises Caicedo is on his way to being a Ballon d’Or winner on the back of Rodri’s success as several impressive statistics have emerged.

Rodri winning the prestigious award proved that defensive midfielders can take home the prize if they’re influential enough on their team, and Caicedo is certainly ticking that box for the Blues this season.

Opta revealed he is the only player in the Premier League this term to win over 50 duels, win possession over 50 times, make over 30 tackles, and complete over 500 passes.

The stats have showcased the 23-year-old’s influence in breaking play up and turning the ball over for the rest of his teammates to use.

Caicedo had come under first from pundits for struggling to settle in and live up to his £115million price tag at Stamford Bridge, but he has since found his feet under Enzo Maresca.

The Ecuador international has played in all 11 of Chelsea’s Premier League fixtures this season as the Blues currently sit third in the table after a surprisingly good start to the new campaign.
