Man United plan to sell big name on '1st January' - Insider

Man United will look to sell Casemiro as soon the January transfer window opens, according to the club’s former chief scout.

Mick Brown, who spent over a decade at United during their most successful period and remains well-connected at the club, exclusively told Football Insider that United will look to shift him off of the wage bill after he was dropped from the starting XI.

Football Insider revealed in September that Casemiro, 32, “will move” to Saudi Arabia either in January or in the summer of 2025, with United set to cut their losses.

Sources say the midfielder is already considering a move away from Old Trafford after a nightmare start to the season which has seen him dropping from the starting XI.

Now, Brown has explained that the club will look to get his wages off the books to allow them to reinvest in other players to improve the squad.

Christian Eriksen has often been selected alongside Kobbie Mainoo in Erik ten Hag’s midfield, as he was against Aston Villa, while the arrival of Manuel Ugarte has pushed the Brazilian even further down the pecking order.

Casemiro has made nine appearances so far this season, with six of those coming from the start, but has not started a league game since being taken off at half-time against Liverpool.

Man United to cash in on Casemiro in January transfer twist

Following his display in the 3-0 defeat to Liverpool earlier this season, Roy Keane tore into the midfielder, and fans have suggested he should never start a game for United again.

Brown, who spent a period as Sir Alex Ferguson’s number two and has a wealth of experience working with players at the top level, has now insisted that

I’m told they’ll look to cash in on him as soon as they can, on the 1st January if possible,” he told Football Insider.

He’s one of the biggest wage-earners and he’s not going to feature regularly in the first team.

He’s been benched because he hasn’t been performing and can’t do it any more.

I’m sure they would love to offload him if they could to get him out of the squad and off the wage bill, which would allow them to spend some money.

Man United

Whether it’s a move to Saudi Arabia or elsewhere, you’ve got to find someone who’s willing to pay the money both to United and to him.

They’re not going to make back anywhere near what they paid for him but they’ll look to bring in some money if they do let him go.
