Man United star reveals he's 'absolutely devastated' in heartbreaking new post

Man United defender Luke Shaw has taken to social media to address fans after he suffered another “devastating” injury setback.

Shaw, 29, made his long-awaited return in Ruben Amorim’s first match, the 1-1 draw against Ipswich, and has since featured in all three games under the new manager.

The left-back has missed 86 games across all competitions for club and country since the start of last season but was able to start in England’s 2-1 defeat to Spain in the Euro 2024 final.

The England international has only managed to play 98 minutes in his three games across all competitions, failing to register a goal involvement but winning 100 per cent of his tackles (2).

Man United have undergone somewhat of a resurgence since Erik ten Hag’s dismissal, going unbeaten in their last seven games across all competitions.

Amorim’s 3-4-3 system requires an immense amount of running from his wing-backs, something Shaw may struggle with after suffering yet another setback.

The 20-time champions are set to face Arsenal on Wednesday (December 4), marking Ruben Amorim’s first major test in the Old Trafford hot seat.

In a heartbreaking update, Shaw took to Instagram to inform fans that he had picked up a fresh injury and expressed his sadness about the situation.

The statement says: “It’s hurting a lot having to write this as I really thought I had got through my recent struggles and was on a positive path going forwards, but unfortunately I’ve had a small setback.

“I’ve been through a lot and had a lot of ups and downs but this has definitely been my toughest period. I’m absolutely devastated and it’s extremely tough to come to terms with reality at this moment in time.

“I understand there is gunna be people frustrated, angry, disappointed and I understand all that. There is no one feeling that more than me at this moment in time.

“But what I can promise is I will do everything I can to come back better soon to help this club achieve its ambitions this season. Thank you to everyone for the support. It really doesn’t go unnoticed and I really do appreciate it.”
