Manchester City fans are all making the same point about Kevin De Bruyne after Juventus loss

Manchester City’s season continues to go from bad to worse as they fell to a 2-0 Champions League defeat at Juventus on Wednesday night.

The Citizens have been well off the pace in the Premier League title race and are out of the Carabao Cup.

Now, there’s a real risk that Man City could be eliminated from the Champions League at the group stage after losing at the Allianz Stadium.

Dusan Vlahovic opened the scoring in the 53rd minute with a header that squirmed past Ederson, goal-line technology deeming it to have crossed the line.

Although Man City looked brighter after conceding, they weren’t able to force their way back into the game and were made to pay midway through the second half.

Timothy Weah was given the opportunity to try his luck with two crosses, and the second delivery was volleyed home by Weston McKennie on 75 minutes.

Man City fans were not impressed by most of the players wearing the crimson shirt on the night, and they felt sorry for one in particular who tried his best.

Manchester City fans say Kevin De Bruyne is carrying the team

Kevin De Bruyne was among Man City’s better players on the night, and fans said he was effectively carrying the rest of the team.

“City just look so damn one-dimensional,” one fan wrote on X.

“The speed and creativity is lacking so much and unless the ball is with De Bruyne you may as well not expect anything to happen. We’re a one man team right now.”

Another supporter said: “What can we do without De Bruyne? He’s the only creative outlet in this team. Others pass to the side and backward.”

One even said De Bruyne could still be deemed “the best in the world” as “absolutely no-one can pull off passes like that consistently.”

And one fan claimed that Doku, De Bruyne, and Dias “are the only players trying hard. The rest are just going through the motions. Absolutely pathetic.”

How the media rated De Bruyne display v Juventus

The Express gave De Bruyne a 7 out of 10 for his efforts in Turin.

‘Was City’s heartbeat in the final third of the pitch as he carved out chances for his team-mates,’ they wrote.

‘He needs to be playing every week if the Citizens are to turn their atrocious form around.’

Meanwhile, the Manchester Evening News went with a 6 out of 10 and wrote: ‘Starting a third game in a row, De Bruyne was waiting all evening for a gap to open up.

‘He found Haaland in the first half and flashed a shot wide, but couldn’t unlock the killer ball.’

Likewise, Manchester World gave him a 6 and wrote: ‘City’s best moments often revolved around De Bruyne, who nearly set up Haaland and went close with two first-half efforts.

‘Although there were a few sloppy passes from the Belgian.’
