Textor shares if he expects to complete Everton takeover before 30 November deadline

John Textor has admitted he is confident he will complete his takeover of Everton before the 30 November deadline.

The American billionaire has reportedly entered a period of exclusivity with Farhad Mohsiri to buy the controlling stake in the Toffees, but must first sell his shares in Crystal Palace [David Ornstein, 15 August].

Although a buyer is yet to be found for his stake in the Eagles, Textor insists that there are already several interested parties with a deal to be struck at Selhurst Park in the next “week or two”.

Speaking to Sky Sports News (11 September) he said: “We have 14 groups interested in Palace who are very qualified and we have five that went to the next level and now we have two who have made good bids while there is also the possibility that our partners might still want it as they love the club as much as I do.

“We’re into the final week or two of knowing who the buyer will be. The contract I have with Farhad gives us a lot of time for that as November 30 is our deadline set to make sure we can complete it.

“I feel we can do so before then. Fans should know that Everton are pretty well off right now and have good cash to support themselves.”

Textor isn’t the first person to be interested in buying Everton who has been confident that he has the muscle to complete a deal, but it does feel as though the American is in a good position to get this over the line.

The Palace shareholder seems to be confident that he will be the new owner of the Toffees by the time that December rolls around now it is just a case of waiting to see whether or not that confidence is misguided.

There are still several obstacles that need to be cleared before a deal can be completed, none bigger or more obvious than his stake at Selhurst Park. Until a contract is signed for someone to buy his shares, there won’t be any movement at Goodison Park.

Hopefully, the American billionaire will manage to meet his 30 November deadline to get this deal over the line. Blues’ supporters have been through enough over the last few years and it is about time they could relax.
