Manchester United fans are all saying the same thing about 'outrageous' Ruben Amorim decision v Nottingham Forest
The skipper was taken off despite United needing a goal late on...
Bruno Fernandes could do nothing to prevent another poor result for Manchester United as they lost in front of their home fans against Nottingham Forest.
Fernandes managed to score United’s second goal to bring them back into the game against the Reds but in the end, it wasn’t enough.
More prevalent for Fernandes and the game in general was Ruben Amorim’s decision to take Fernandes off when United were chasing the game.
For years, Fernandes has been the main man at United in terms of getting a goal when needed.
However, on this occasion, Amorim turned to his bench as he introduced Mason Mount to proceedings.
As has been the case with Mount’s United career so far, Mount had little impact on the game and that’s left Man United fans scratching their heads a bit when it comes to Amorim’s decision to take Fernandes off.
And over on X, there’s plenty of chat about Fernandes’ withdrawal when they needed him most.
Manchester United fans baffled by Ruben Amorim’s decision to take Bruno Fernandes off
Social media is always a brutal place for opinion but on this occasion, it seems like United fans are more confused than anything else.
One fan suggested that the loss was on Amorim, with the Fernandes sub a big part of it.
While another supporter had exactly the same opinion.
Another supporter, @Onahkosi, labelled the decision ‘outrageous’.
“Subtle calls and in game choices -enable my conclusions about a manager . Taking off Bruno Fernandes while Chasing a goal with 15minutes+ left …is outrageous. First question mark on Ruben Amorim”
While another supporter suggested the team needs a better alternative for when Fernandes is taken off.
@Akunn_a adding, “Honestly at this point, if Amad can’t be moved behind the striker then we need an alternative to Bruno Fernandes, it can’t be Mason Mount, certainly can’t be Joshua Zirkzee.”
The theme continued as well, with another supporter questioning the Fernandes call.
While @hassanakiluabdu questioned the decision to take off both Fernandes and Ugarte.
“Your team is down by a goal, you “still went ahead to remove Bruno Fernandes and Ugarte.. killing the whole movement in the midfield.”
Amorim quickly learning about Man United pressures
Just a few games in and we’re already seeing the first chinks in the armour and questions being asked of the new manager.
Ruben Amorim will get loads of time to get it right with United but he is already seeing the pressure that comes with such a huge job.
With a busy Christmas period now to come, it’s vital that Amorim and United pick up some wins and start to get into the groove of what he wants to do on the field.
