‘Not convinced’: Journalist says he’s not sure ‘world class’ winger will sign for Arsenal despite recent links

Arsenal are seemingly in the market for a new winger this summer as they look to bolster their squad ahead of next season.

The Gunners have been linked with the likes of Pedro Neto and Eberechi Eze in recent times, while Federico Chiesa is reportedly a player on Arsenal’s radar.

Indeed, there have been reports linking Chiesa with Arsenal recently, but according to Dean Jones, there may not be too much in these rumours.

Speaking on the Ranks FC Ultras Podcast, Jones has been speaking about Chiesa’s future, and he says that he’s not convinced the recent links to Arsenal are legitimate.

Federico Chiesa to Arsenal is unlikely

Jones shared his verdict on the recent links between Arsenal and Chiesa.

“With Chiesa they have been left in a tricky one. His contract is running down and there’s been no sign of him signing a new deal because they can’t better the wages he’s already on.” Jones said.

That’s why there are links with a few other teams, Tottenham have been one of them and Arsenal are starting to become another, but I’m not convinced by that.”

Chiesa to Tottenham makes more sense

Federico Chiesa could end up in north London this summer, but a move to Spurs makes much more sense than a move to Arsenal.

Indeed, while both clubs are in need of an attacking player, Spurs appear to be the more likely side to do this deal.

Tottenham have a history of doing business with Juventus, signing Dejan Kulusevski, Rodrigo Bentancur and Cristian Romero from the Old Lady in recent years.

Fabio Paratici is said to still be working with the club on a consultancy basis, which makes a move for Chiesa that much more likely.

The ‘world class‘ winger could end up in the Premier League this summer, but a move to Arsenal doesn’t appear to be on the cards.
