Manchester United star labelled ‘flop of the season’
'I could have picked a few Man Utd players.'
One of Manchester United’s key players has been branded the ‘flop of the season’ by Neil ‘Razor’ Ruddock.
United are just 12th in the Premier League after 12 games and their dismal start to the season cost Erik ten Hag his job at the end of last month.
Ruben Amorim was appointed as Ten Hag’s replacement but it remains to be seen whether the Portuguese coach can turn the tide at Old Trafford.
Ruddock says he could have named any number of Manchester United players as his ‘flop of the season’, such has been the team’s demise, but singled out Bruno Fernandes for special criticism.
Fernandes has been one of United’s most consistent players in recent years but is yet to hit top form this term and has already been sent off twice, admittedly for two soft red cards.
Ruddock played for Liverpool along with several other English clubs and joked Mohamed Salah would be his ‘flop of the season’ if he ended up leaving Anfield, before picking out ‘annoying’ Fernandes.
Speaking to 10bet, Ruddock said: ‘Well, at this moment in time, Mo Salah is my flop because he hasn’t signed a new contract with Liverpool!
‘Come on, Mo! Sign a new contract. If he leaves, he’ll definitely be my flop, but I hope he stays because I love him.
‘The one player I would seriously like to mention is Bruno Fernandes. I could have picked any of his teammates from Manchester United for my flop of the season so far, but I’m going to go with the captain.
‘I don’t like him. He’s annoying. He annoys me. He’s always moaning, chucking his hands up in the air and in the footsteps of Manchester United captains with the way he wears the armband.
‘Behave yourself and get on with it, Bruno.’
The club Ruddock spent the majority of his career at – Liverpool – currently find themselves eight points clear at the top of the Premier League and in a position to further dent Manchester City’s chances ahead of a huge clash at Anfield this weekend.
‘That is going to be massive for the title race,’ added Ruddock, who played one game for England.
‘If Liverpool can beat City, then City have got to win every game I think to have any chance of winning the league, and obviously Liverpool will need to lose four or five games, which doesn’t look like happening at the moment.
‘So, if Liverpool do beat City, then I think it’s Liverpool’s title to lose. Looking at the Premier League in recent years, with City slipping up, Liverpool won’t have a better chance at becoming champions.
‘As we always say, the Christmas period is going to be absolutely crucial – it’s game after game.
‘If Liverpool are eight points clear after Christmas, I think they’ll win the Premier League.’
