Rangers have taken on a UK agency to help them recruit a new CEO and chairman at Ibrox, according to Mark Guidi.
The Light Blues have been without a CEO following James Bisgrove’s departure at the end of last season while John Gilligan is currently interim chairman having taken over after John Bennett’s exit earlier this term.
While it is unclear whether or not the Gers are close to appointing a successor in either role, Guidi believes that the Light Blues have installed the services of a talent agency to help their search.
Speaking on The Go Radio Football Show (22:28) he said: “It’s crucial, they’ve got to get appointments in and they’ve got to get the right ones as best they can.
“I thought that Jim Gillespie at St Mirrenn in terms of chief executive, that’s fallen through. I believe they’ve taken on one of the big UK agencies to help with the talent search for various roles within the club.
“That tends to take a bit of time, the interview process, due diligence etc, etc. But it’s clear that John Gilligan the interim chairman needs help. The whole football club needs help, you only need to look at the evidence that’s there in black and white.
“Some of the decisions that have been made off of the park, the whole catastrophe with the stadium in the summer which I think really put Rangers on the back foot.”
Have Rangers found a new CEO after James Bisgrove’s Ibrox exit?
As Guidi suggests, it is clear that not only do the Light Blues need new recruits to fill these backroom roles, but they need them quickly before any more questionable decisions can be made on the blue half of Glasgow.
Rangers want to close the gap to Celtic both off and on the pitch in the coming years. While Philippe Clement is doing what he can to solve matters on the field, there is a lack of structure and support above him at Ibrox.
That has left the Belgian facing a lot of pressure and criticism from pundits and supporters alike that should really be directed at a chairman or CEO. While those positions remain unfilled, however, Clement will have to deal with the brunt of it.
Hopefully, the decision to recruit this new agency will speed up the process at Ibrox.
While the Light Blues will still have to conduct interviews and their due diligence, the actual process of finding candidates capable of filling the void should be much smoother.
In other Rangers news, Clement has been told that he is facing a “season-defining month” at Ibrox after new developments
