Sky Sports journo: Something not right at Rangers as behind-the-scenes developments emerge

Dan Bardell admits that Rangers hierarchy are a long way behind Celtic as John Gilligan looks to hire a new chief executive at Ibrox.

The Gers are keen to have a new CEO in place before Christmas [Chris Jack] after a move to appoint Jim Gillespie fell through.

Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell believes something isn’t quite right at Ibrox with the right appointment needed ahead of January.

Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, Bardell said: “Rangers need to get hierarchy right before you can get the playing side right.

“Things don’t feel right for me at Rangers at the moment, they’re a long way behind Celtic in terms of stability and that can’t be a good thing.

“The priority is always to be the best team in the Scottish Premiership and they aren’t.

“They’ve got to get stuff behind the scenes right to be able to move forward as a football club. They need to get the right man and get it sorted quickly with the January window not that far away now.“

There is no doubt that there is a lot of work for Gilligan to do at Ibrox after plenty of frustration surrounding the club in recent weeks and months.

With John Bennett stepping down, there is an opportunity for the interim chairman to complete a full reset which could help the Gers move forward.

The goal for the Light Blues’ hierarchy has to be to reach the level of Celtic who have been better for some time now, unfortunately.

That has to be the first goal before moving forward and looking to assume some sort of dominance in the Scottish Premiership.
